An interesting spot for both teams as Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech square off in a rescheduled game that was originally supposed to be played in August, but was postponed due to weather. Both teams come into the game riding some serious momentum. LaTech is 5-0 on the season and A&M has won four straight following a season opening loss to Florida.
Unlike their state counterparts from Baton Rouge, LaTech has been lighting up the scoreboard this season topping 52 points four of their five games. LaTech quarterback Colby Cameron has yet to throw an interception this season and has already accounted for 13 TDs through the air. A&M has been successful on both sides of the ball, averaging 44.6 ppg on offense behind quarterback Johnny Manziel while giving up just over 14 ppg.
Several key notes to remember about this game – it is being played in Shreveport – much closer for LaTech than A&M; Texas A&M has two defensive starters suspended (they were originally scheduled to miss the opening game); and most importantly in my mind, A&M has LSU up next. Do you think the Aggies will be focused on this game or might have one eye on next week’s matchup with LSU? Meanwhile, this is the Super Bowl for a program like LaTech as games like this are rarely played in their backyard.
What will happen: On paper, this looks like a game that Texas A&M should win by double digits. An SEC power team taking on a small Sun Belt school usually results in such an outcome. However, LaTech has played well against BCS schools going 5-1 in their last six matchups. Texas A&M will come out in a daze and the Rajun’ Cajuns will strike early. Expect LaTech to be able to put up some points in this one with the chance to pull the upset late.
