The Chicago Blackhawks are the defending Stanley Cup champions. The Hawks were also able to add some key pieces to the puzzle in the offseason with additions include Stalberg, Pisani, John Scott and Turco. Up and comers such as Bryan Bickell and Jack Skille will have the opportunity to play this year and should be key players in helping the Blackhawks win. With Huet being loaned to a Swiss team the Hawks have freed up almost $6M in contract room which will provide a huge help in keeping them a contender this season.
As much as many fans and analysts think that the losses the Hawks have had will hurt them this season I just can’t see it. The Hawks should be the favourites to win the cup this season. They have the best defensive core in the league and their top two lines can also compete with any other top two lines in the entire NHL.
