San Diego Chargers @ Buffalo Bills : NFL Week 3 Free Pick

By NFL

The Chargers may not have shocked the world last week, but they surprised a lot of people that thought the ‘Legion of Boom’ was impenetrable in beating the Seahawks 30-21 in San Diego. The Bills proved they were no slouches either, dominating Miami 29-10 as -1.5 favorites in an absolutely electric atmosphere in Buffalo. To oddsmakers though, the San Diego win was more impressive as they’ve made them just +2 underdogs for the 1:00 PM ET kickoff.

San Diego (1-1) used a dominant performance by Antonio Gates to upend the defending champion. The ageless tight end caught 7 balls for 96 yards and 3TD and helped Philip Rivers and the Charger offense dominate the time of possession 42:15 to 17:45. To be fair, the Seahawks may have been caught up in the classic look-ahead game as they face off against Denver this Sunday but the San Diego win was impressive nonetheless, especially considering they were working on a short week and Seattle had an extra 3 days to prepare.

Buffalo has shown they are not short on weapons in jumping out to a 2-0 start on the year. There’s still value in Bills’ spreads before the national media jumps on board what could be this year’s version of the 2013 Kansas City Chiefs, stringing together multiple victories to start the season. In Sunday’s win over Miami the passing game, run game, and special teams was dominant with Sammy Watkins catching 8 balls for 117 yards, running backs combining for 113 yards on the ground, and C.J Spiller returning a kickoff 102 yards for a TD.

Free Pick

There’s something special going on in Buffalo as the team honors deceased owner Ralph Wilson this season and fans proving the team has a home for life in Orchard Park. This doesn’t make it easy for a San Diego team flying across the U.S for an early kickoff, especially in what could be considered a letdown week. The Bills have the 7th best rushing attack in the league to combine with the 5th best rushing defense. The Charger win over San Diego was impressive, there’s no denying that but it’s part of the reason for the line being so low. Take advantage of the Bills why you can….

Pick: Buffalo -2 (Bookmaker)
