The return of golf to the Olympics was a roaring success and the actual 72 hole tournament went right down to the final putt. With Great Britain’s and PGA stalwart Justin Rose taking the gold medal. The show that Rose put on was hugely admirable and full of heart and talent. The Englishman truly immersed himself in the spirit of the Olympics and was a very keen participant. The same can’t be said for many of Rose’s contemporary’s. A stunning performance and a worthy Olympic champion. With Olympic golf drawing to an end its time to get things back on track with the PGA Tour. The Playoffs are right around the corner and its all to play for this week at the Wyndham Championship. The action will take place at Sedgefield Country Club which measures 7, 127 yards and plays as a par 70. 10 of top 30 in the world will be teeing it up this week as well as 6 Olympians that played last week. Davis Love III is back to defend the title he won here 12 months ago. He became the third oldest player to win on the PGA Tour when he won the Wyndham Championship last year at 51 years old. A truly remarkable effort by the American Ryder Cup captain that is unlikely to be done again anytime soon.

Patrick Reed came to life during the final round of the Olympics last week as he shot a 64. The Texan will hope to carry that form into the Wyndham Championship. He’s very talented and is without a doubt the best player in the field this week. It’s often his putting that can let him down and that has cost him many trophies. If he can find some consistency then he will be a hard man to beat this week.
