Quickens Loans National Betting Picks

By Golf

Just as you are trying to make sense of all the action from last weeks second major of the year, the tour kicks on to the Quickens Loans National. What a week it was in Pennsylvania for the US Open. Dustin Johnson finally throwing that monkey off his back with an impressive win. It wasn’t without its controversy as ‘puttergate’ almost cost him the tournament. Johnson was penalized for making his ball move on the green on the 5th hole whilst addressing it. At the time the rules officials saw nothing doing and put it down to the wind but on the 12th hole, the USGA officials informed the South Carolinian resident that they had reviewed the footage and came to the conclusion that he had moved his ball and would be given a 1 shot penalty. Despite that bombshell, Johnson was able to go put it out of his mind and play faultlessly down the stretch to win his first major. Truly enthralling stuff and the right result after the USGA’s howler. Whilst DJ reflects on his win and takes time out to celebrate, the tour moves on to Congressional Country Club for the Quickens Loans National. Measuring 7, 569 yards and playing as a par 71, this is a long course that the bigger hitters can get do well on. With a slightly weaker field due to the fact that a major was played a week before, it’s a great opportunity for a young star or journeyman to get their chance in the sun.

Jim Furyk (+2000 BetOnline.ag)

Jim Furyk is on the comeback trail after being out for months with a wrist injury. A tie for second last week at Oakmont Country Club announced his return. Coming into this week at Congressional, Furyk will be relaxed and ready to carry on his superb run of form. It may just be that the Pennsylvania resident is too good for the rest of the field.

Marc Leishman (+2500 BetOnline.ag)

The big hitting Aussie has two top 20 finishes in the month of June and tied for 18th place at the US Open last week. Leishman’s length will certainly come into play this week on a longer course. He is no stranger to the winners circle and he will know how good an opportunity he has this week against an inexperienced field.

Rickie Fowler (+1400 BetOnline.ag)

You can’t really look at a list of potential winners this event without taking Fowlers case very strongly. He is the highest ranked player in the field and will threaten all week. Truth is he isn’t in great from but has that X Factor that all great players have that means he could win at any given stage despite how they are currently playing.
