FedEx St. Jude Classic Betting Picks

By Golf

With only one week to go before the US Open, The FedEx St. Jude Classic is really the last chance saloon for golfers to sharpen their games before the second major of the year.  TPC Southwind is the course and plays as a par 70 and measures 7, 239 yards. The noticeable talking point of this course is the par 3, 11th hole that looks similar to TPC Sawgrass’s iconic 17th hole. The field resembles an event that takes place the week before a major. Most of the big players are already at Oakmont getting ready for tee off next Thursday. The preparation needed before a major is often what weakens the field the week before. Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson are the stand out names and will definitely fancy their chances against less experienced competition. News coming out from Tiger Woods’ camp is that the 14 time major winner will not compete at Oakmont next week as he is not physically ready for the strains of tournament golf just yet. That will come as disappointing news to the organizers as Woods’ participation would have been a huge bonus. As one mighty champion sits in the shadows, fighting the battles of getting older and losing his superhuman powers, other younger champions are strengthening up and honing their incredible skills as the 116th US Open draws nearer.

Dustin Johnson (+600 BetOnline.ag)

Dustin Johnson is certainly a favorite going into this event given the well documented weakened field. He is also in good form having finished in 3rd place last week at the Memorial. If you combine the fact that he is the best golfer at the event and in good form, there is very good reason to believe that Dustin Johnson will come out top this weekend at TPC Southwind.

Gary Woodland (+1600 BetOnline.ag)

The big hitting Woodland is coming off a finish for 4th last weekend. Desperate to qualify for the US Open, Woodland will need a great showing this week in order for that to happen. A finish of around 5th place should secure Woodland his ticket to next weeks US Open. If he gets the bit between his teeth then he may be a hard man to stop and could qualify in style for next weeks major with a win.

Retief Goosen (+4000 BetOnline.ag)

The event is all set up for the two time US Open winner to do well at. His last two performances have been top 15 finishes and he seems to be well and truly over his back issues. Playing competitive golf and looking the part again, the South African could take us all down memory lane this week with a vintage like performance.
