The Washington Redskins and New York Giants resume their rivalry this Sunday, and the Redskins will be trying to win their first game of the season against their hated division rivals, while the Giants will be trying to improve to 3-0. Going into this game, the biggest storyline will be the matchup between newly acquired redskin Josh Norman and the Giants Odell Beckham Jr.
Last season, both men went up against each other when the Giants played the Carolina Panthers. The matchup was very physical and intense, and looked like something you would expect to see at a WWE event and not an NFL game.
Cousins is going to need to find his game if the Redskins are going to keep this close.
During the offseason, the feud between the two players continued, with Beckham saying he made Norman relevant, and Norman countering that Beckham was only famous because of the one-handed catch he made his rookie season.
So far this season, Norman, who was brought in to compete against the top receivers the Redskins play, hasn’t been used as expected. In the first game of the season, the Redskins played the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Norman wasn’t put on Antonio Brown, who had his way against the Redskins secondary.
Last week, the Redskins played the Dallas Cowboys, and Norman was only used sparingly against Dez Bryant, despite playing very well when they were matched up together.
After being criticized for not utilizing Norman properly in the first two games, watch for Norman to be matched up against Beckham very often on Sunday. But one can only hope the two don’t turn the matchup into another wrestling match.
At the quarterback position, Kirk Cousins has put up decent numbers, but they haven’t translated into wins, which has brought on a lot of criticism from the fan base, especially after losing to a rookie quarterback last week.
For the Giants, Eli Manning has looked very good, and only has one interception after two games, which is always a good sign if you are a Giants fan. The Giants defense has also looked much better than it was last season, and New York fans are starting to believe they will end their playoff drought this season.
After opening the season with two consecutive home games, the Redskins will play two of their next three games on the road, which means they can’t afford to make too many mistakes. A win against the Giants will keep them within distance of the division lead, but a loss will put them in a 0-3 hole that will be hard to climb out of because of the toughness of their schedule.

This is a rivalry game, so anything can happen. The Giants are playing very well right now and are also the home team, so I’m picking them to get the win, but the Redskins will cover the spread.
