Golden State Warriors Go For the Record – Betting Lines and Pick

By NBA

The Golden State Warriors have a chance to make history on the final day of the NBA season when they go for their 73rd win of the year. The Warriors will try to break the record against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Oracle Arena on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM. ET.

Golden State wrapped up the top seed in the playoffs last week. Usually, teams rest their starters after they have locked up their playoff seed, but the Warriors will not be resting their players on Wednesday night because they have a chance to break the single season record for wins, which they currently share with the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

The Memphis Grizzlies also have a couple of things at stake in this game. The Grizzlies are half a game behind the Portland Trailblazers, who are currently fifth in the Western Conference, and are currently in line to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. With a win, the Grizzlies can move up to fifth place and a more favorable matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, who are fourth in the West.

Curry and the Warriors will look to make history in this final game of the season.

Curry and the Warriors will look to make history in this final game of the season.

The Grizzlies will also be trying to avoid being on the wrong side of history. If they lose to Golden State, they will be the team the record is broken against, but if they win, they will be the team that prevented the Warriors from making history.

While many people are predicting an easy win for the Warriors, they barely escaped Memphis last week, winning a one-point game against the injury riddled team. Golden State also at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves a few days before that, so they aren’t invisible at home.

Offensively, Golden State is the best team in the NBA, averaging 114.8 points per game. On the defensive end, the Warriors have been average this season, allowing opponents to score 104.1 points per game.

Steph Curry has led the way for the Warriors all year long, and is averaging 29.9 points per game. Curry’s performance this season will likely earn him his second consecutive MVP award as well as the Most Improved Player award, but his ultimate goal is to win a second consecutive NBA championship.

The Grizzlies are one of the worst offensive teams in the league, injuries to some of their players is part of the reason their offense has slipped this year averaging 99.2 points per game, which is 29th in the league.

Defensively, Memphis has been a lot better, holding opponents to 100.9 points per game, which is 10th best in the NBA.

The Grizzlies handled the injuries well for the most part, but they eventually caught up with the team, and they have lost eight of their last nine games.

Warriors vs Grizzlies Betting Lines

BetOnline.ag has the Warriors favored to win the game by 17.5 points. The over/under on total points scored is 213.5.  Here’s a BetOnline review.

My Pick

The Grizzlies understand the gravity of the situation they are in and would also like to improve their playoff seed so they will be ready to play. While they won’t win the game, they will play well enough to cover the spread.
