WGC-HSBC Champions Betting Picks

By Golf

The WGC-HSBC Champions is a fantastic event that brings together the world’s elite for one last time of the year as it is a PGA and European Tour Sanctioned event. It is also serves as a mouth watering appetizer for the next three weeks as the European Tour gets ready to host their last three big money events of the year that culminates in crowing the winner of the Race to Dubai. Lots to play for on a course that was once described as ‘the crowing jewel of all of Asian golf’ by Tiger Woods. The Sheshan International Golf Course West is really a thing of beauty with lots of water and demanding shots. it measures 7, 266 yards and plays as a par 72. Last years Winner Russell Knox is back to defend his title. His win last year was anything but straight forward as he got a call up at the 11th hour as one of the alternatives. He scrambled around for a Chinese visa and managed to get on a flight that touched down just before tee off. A defining moment was when he decided to play his 54th hole on the Sunday morning instead of finishing on the Saturday evening like his playing partners did, due to bad light. He managed to birdie the hole in the light of day and went onto shoot a 68 to claim his maiden win. He hasn’t looked back since. Winning this tournament will be a red letter day for any player.

Thomas Pieters (+4000 BetOnline.ag)

The Belgian bomber is making headlines for all the right reasons and is set for a big future in the game. His Ryder Cup performance a month ago in the US was the only positive for team Europe. Coming away with the best return of points as far as a rookie goes. It was sensational going and he will fancy his chances this week in Shanghai. His length could be a big factor on a very demanding course.

Rory Mcilroy (+550 BetOnline.ag)

The Northern Irishman showed his hunger and desire by winning the FedEx Cup last year. The WGC-HSBC Champions provides him with another chance to stamp his authority on world golf. He has a good record at the event, and if he can get the putter warmed up he will threaten all weekend. Mcilroy will also want to make a statement after being beaten by Patrick Reed during their singles game at the Ryder Cup. Expect big things from him this week.

Adam Scott (+2200 BetOnline.ag)

Scott has all the attributes to make a very competitive title challenge this week. He had a good week last week in Malaysia at the Cimb Classic. Finishing for a tie of 10th place. When he’s flushing it there aren’t many better in the game. With a good start on Thursday, Adam Scott can work with the momentum and towards the top of the leaderboard.
