WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Betting Picks

By Golf

Shane Lowry is back at Firestone Country Club(South) this week to defend the title he won last year. He is one of the 10 top European  players that have opted not to play on the PGA Tour this week. A large contingent of Europe’s best have chosen to play in the Open de France. This is a scheduling conflict that is due to the Olympics and the jam packed season. It is however disappointing that the PGA decided to schedule a WGC event on the same weekend as the very popular Open de France. Given that the weekend will now be split with the worlds best playing on either side of the pond, the WGC field will only be a little weaker than it was last year. There will still be 40 of the top 50 in the world competing in the smaller 59 man field. Firestone Country Club is 7, 400 yards and plays as a par 70. It was designed back in 1929 and has seen many great duels and champions in the past. Last years win for Lowry will always be remembered for the sand wedge he hit through the tree on 18. Not only did it get through the tree unscathed but it also landed 10 feet from the hole to set up a winning birdie opportunity. The big Irishman stepped up and sunk the putt to win his first event on US soil.

Dustin Johnson (+700 BetOnline.ag)

Dustin Johnson is back from his US Open victory and will look to build on what was an incredible breakthrough for him. He is such a consistent performer nowadays and will play with an even greater confidence after his major triumph. Johnson already has 7 top 5 placed finishes this season and is certainly one of the men to beat at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational this week.

Shane Lowry (+4000 BetOnline.ag)

The defending champion is finding form at the right time of the year. Leading by 4 strokes going into the last round of the US Open, Lowry found himself finishing second to Johnson after an indifferent last round. The confidence is there and so is the experience that it takes to win at Firestone Country Club. Lowry will look to carry out a brave defense of his title.

Bill Haas (+5000 BetOnline.ag)

Bill Haas is coming off a finish for third place last week. His game seems to be heading in the right direction. He had a top 25 finish here last year but will look to better that by playing like he did at Congressional Country Club last week. His ability to scramble is very impressive and the putter is red hot at the moment. Look out for him.
