Valero Texas Open Betting Picks

By Golf

The Valero Texas Open always proves to be a great week on a course that gives away absolutely nothing. TPC San Antonio measures 7, 435 yards and plays as a par 72. Charley Hoffman beat San Antonio native Patrick Reed last year by one shot as Hoffman finished on 12 under. The setup at San Antonio suits Hoffman’s eye. He has enjoyed a superb run of results there and will look to carry on his domination with another top showing this week. There are many side plots developing and none bigger than the Ian Poulter situation. The Englishman will need to finish in the top 40 to retain his PGA Tour card. Before last week’s event in Harbour Town, Poulter needed $144, 000 to keep his card. He was in a great position as he was tied for third going into the last round. Unfortunately he faulted and finished in a logjam tie for 11th. Poulter still requires another $30, 000 and will need to keep his cool and make the cut in Texas. There’s a lot on the line this week and the action promises to be mesmerising. We could be seeing the temporary end to one of the bigger star’s stay on the tour and we may see a rise of the new guard coming in. It should be a thrilling week.

Charley Hoffman (+2000 BetOnline.ag)

Charley Hoffman simply loves this event and the stats show just that. Since 2010 Hoffman has been -43 at TPC San Antonio. That’s 29 shots better than anyone else. A simply incredible record. As the defending champion he will come in with a lot of confidence and will undoubtedly give a fierce defense of his title.

Patrick Reed (+2800 BetOnline.ag)

Reed will feel the love when he gets on home soil this week. He finished in second place here last year and knows his way around the TPC San Antonio set up. He’s a major talent and is due another win soon. Playing in Texas could be the boost he needs when he tees it up on Thursday.

Ryan Moore (+2200 BetOnline.ag)

Ryan Moore hasn’t played since Masters where he finished for a tie of 9th place. His game is trending in the right direction and he seems to be on the trail to winning again. He has got all the shots that a winner requires at TPC San Antonio.
