RBC Canadian Open Betting Picks

By Golf

Another truly memorable Open Championship has come and gone. With Phil Mickleson and Henrik Stenson putting on a masterclass that rivaled the ‘Duel in the Sun’ back in 1977 between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson. Nicklaus went onto say after The Open had finished on Sunday that he thought Mickleson and Stenson had eclipsed their efforts. High praise indeed and a fitting way to end a fantastic Open Championship that was spectacularly won by  the big Swede, Stenson. As always, the show must go on and it crosses the pond again and arrives in Canada for the RBC Canadian Open. The event last year that propelled Jason Day onto a run that saw him collect a major championship and FedEx Cup playoff opener. Played at Glen Abbey Golf Course which measures 7, 253 yards and plays as a par 72, this is certainly a tough challenge for the players a week after The Open. The number one and two(Day and Johnson) in the world headline the field this week. The signature ‘valley holes’ of the back 9 offer a unique test to the players. The 11th hole is the start of the valley holes as they tee off to a fairway that is 60 feet below. The valley holes go on until 16 where they ascend and begin the last 3 of the round. It should be a great event and lots to play for as the season enters its final stages.

Graeme Mcdowell (+6600 BetOnline.ag)

The Northern Irishman is playing very consistent golf again. This is a big week for Mcdowell as he desperately tries to find the world ranking points to make the Ryder Cup in September. With a slightly weakened field, there is an opportunity that Mcdowell could go on and win this weekend. He will certainly be there or thereabouts this week.

Jason Day (+500 BetOnline.ag)

Its hard not to look passed the defending champion. Jason Day will certainly believe he can go on and win this event. That is the confidence factor that comes with being number one in the world. He knows how to win on this golf course and is in fantastic form. The big hitting Australian may just go on to defend his title he won here last year.

Matt Kuchar (+1200 BetOnline.ag)

Kuchar is coming off a decent showing at The Open and is beginning to show the form again that made him one of the safest bets on the tour. Having been out of the winners circle for quite a while now, ‘Kuch’ will see this as a great opportunity to add another trophy to the cabinet. Watch out for Kuch this week as he is back to his consistent best.
