John Deere Classic Betting Picks

By Golf

There’s only one week left before the Open and this week’s John Deere Classic is the last chance to sort out any swing faults the players may have. That said, the field the week before the Open isn’t the strongest. There will be many players pitching up this week in Illinois that won’t have starts at the Open at Royal Birkdale next week. They won’t get a better chance to stake their claim on the tour with a decidedly weak field playing at TPC Deere Run. The course measures 7, 268 yards and plays as a par 71. Ryan Moore is back to try and defend the title he won last year. It was Moore’s 5th PGA win last year and he did it with some aplomb. Moore didn’t record a bogey in his final 46 holes and won by two strokes in the end. There is one spot up for grabs this week for an Open berth. That will go to the highest ranking player that hasn’t already qualified. There will be 15 players leaving Illinois on Sunday evening that are teeing it up at Royal Birkdale. A charted plane is always organized by the organizers of the Deere Classic as an appreciation for attending it. This week won’t be without it’s entertainment. There’s always a huge amount to play for on the PGA Tour and this week won’t be any different. If there was ever a chance for an up and coming player to put his hand up the time is most certainly now.

Zach Johnson (+2500 BetOnline.ag)

Zach Johnson will have fond memories of the Open back in 2015 at St. Andrews where he won it. He may well draw a lot of confidence from that and be in good shape the weekend before another Open. Johnson has always put in a good showing at TPC Deere Run. He is’t the longest player on tour so he will have a chance to get it done on a relatively short track.

Ben Martin (+5000 BetOnline.ag)

Ben Martin finished second at last years event and will fancy himself to go all the way this year. Martin was unfortunate to lose to an inspired Ryan Moore. With the same showing he can go all the way.

Bud Cauley (+4000 BetOnline.ag)

Cauley finished on 15 under last year at the John Deere Classic and enjoyed an 8th placed finish. He will look to repeat that and be the man who takes his opportunity whilst the big names are away.
